Overview:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Strategic Sourcing with a strong focus on CAPEX (Capital Expenditure), particularly within the realm of construction services. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing large-scale commercial construction projects ranging from $20 million to $200 million, including renovations and greenfield projects. This role requires exceptional leadership abilities to oversee a team of Strategic Sourcing Managers and Analysts, ensuring efficient and cost-effective procurement processes.

Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies aligned with organizational goals and objectives, with a specific focus on construction services CAPEX.

  2. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of Strategic Sourcing Managers and Analysts to drive performance excellence and achieve departmental targets.

  3. Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and contractors, negotiating favorable terms and contracts to optimize value and mitigate risks.

  4. Project Oversight: Oversee the procurement process for large-scale commercial construction projects, ensuring compliance with regulations, timelines, and budgetary constraints.

  5. Cost Optimization: Continuously identify opportunities for cost savings and value enhancement across all stages of the procurement lifecycle, from sourcing to contract management.

  6. Collaboration: Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders such as project managers, engineers, finance, and legal teams to ensure alignment and synergy in procurement activities.

  7. Risk Management: Assess and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities, including supply chain disruptions, regulatory compliance, and contractual disputes.

  8. Performance Metrics: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of sourcing strategies, vendor performance, and overall departmental performance.

  9. Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging technologies in construction services to inform strategic decision-making and maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, with a focus on CAPEX and construction services.

  • Proven experience managing large-scale commercial construction projects ranging from $20 million to $200 million, including renovations and greenfield projects.

  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Deep understanding of procurement best practices, contract management, and vendor relationship management.

  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis and financial modeling.

  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards in the construction industry.
